What is a local area needs assessment?
A local area needs assessment (LANA) is a systematic method of identifying unmet health and healthcare needs of a population and determining if changes are required to meet those unmet needs. It helps to determine the community’s health priorities, how to better use resources, and plan programs or activities that support people's health needs.
Who can take part in the LANA?
We want to hear from community members, health professionals and service providers in our region.
As users of health care in our region, community members provide invaluable insight into what their needs are and what helps or prevents people from accessing health services.
The views of health professionals, service providers and other key stakeholders are also important. Their views provide insight into disease trends, emerging treatments, workforce needs, the effectiveness of current service delivery models as well as opportunities for improvement, coordination and linkages between services and barriers to access.
Information about the health data for your local area can be viewed in the links below:

What happens with the information?
What you tell us will help us understand the region’s health service and community needs. The information will be compiled together with a systematic analysis of health data and used to develop the LANA. The outcomes of the LANA will help guide local decision making and form the basis of future CHHHS plans.
Our commitment to you
We will keep you informed about the progress of the Local Area Health Needs Assessment. We will listen to your feedback and acknowledge concerns and aspirations for health services. We will provide feedback on how public input influenced the final report.
Once finalised, the findings of the CHHHS Local Area Needs Assessment will be published on our website.
Thank you!
We appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. Your contributions are highly valued. For any inquiries, please contact chhhs_planning@health.qld.gov.au.
