The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is a statutory body defined by the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011.
Our Board must perform its functions and exercise its powers guided by the Act.
It's independently and locally controlled by a board appointed by the Governor in Council. This is in line with recommendations by the Queensland Minister for Health and the Minister for Ambulance Services.
Our Board is responsible for ensuring that our health service meets its responsibilities. This includes developing statements of priorities and strategic plans for our corporate governance. It must also monitor compliance with those statements and plans.
