About our publication scheme
As a requirement of Queensland's Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), we publish a broad range of information for the community to access. The publication scheme describes and categorises information that's available to you.
It’s been developed to give the community greater access to information held by our CHHHS.
Accessing publication scheme information
Most of our documents can be downloaded from our website. If you’re having difficulty accessing them, please email CHHHS-RTI-Privacy@health.qld.gov.au. We can arrange for you to get your documents in hard copy.

Our priorities are set out in our Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service strategic plan. We measure and publish our success in our hospital performance.
Our decisions
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board are helped by many community groups and committees to make the best choices for our health service.
These consumer and community engagement groups act on behalf of our community.
Together with our Board, they agree on the Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy 2023-2027.
We use this strategy to work towards our vision and our purpose.
Our policies
Public requests for access to Queensland Health or CHHHS information is governed by Queensland's RTI Act 2009 and Queensland's Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
The CHHHS Information Access Unit can help you if you'd like to make a Right to Information (RTI) application involving Cairns and Hinterland Health Services.
Public interest disclosure (PID) information is governed by Queensland's Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 (PID Act).
Our CHHHS Public Interest Disclosure Policy has all the information that you need to make a public interest disclosure.
Our lists
Our lists and registers are all available online with our disclosure logs.

Information not included in the publication scheme
Information classes won’t usually include information that is:
- prohibited by law from disclosure or is exempt under the RTI Act 2009
- in draft form
- in a form that cannot be easily accessed
- no longer readily available because it has been transferred to the Queensland State Archives.
